Let's say you want to make fully automatic lighting or its smart control with the ability to set scenarios. There are several types of options available on the market: cloud solutions with an application, where control takes place via a smartphone and scenarios are saved in the cloud, and with the ability to connect to alternative smart home systems, such as Home Assistant (HA), OpenHAB, etc. Of course, there is another alternative - to control v via IR remote control, which can also be integrated into a smart home system (HA), but this is more a way to adapt to an already purchased lamp and not at all a topic for this post. But today we will not touch on cloud solutions, because this blog is about alternative systems, so the goal is to choose such an operating option. Since the ZigBee protocol is more stable in operation than WiFi, we are considering options for this criterion.
Currently, there are not many options that can be considered for use to one degree or another. Let's talk about each of them:
Lonsonho Zigbee 3.0 Smart Led Ceiling Lamp
The cheapest representative of the fauna of ceiling lamps. At first glance, it may seem that you can stop searching for it, because it has voice support, RGB, dimmer, and a very nice price. But there is a big fly in the ointment in this particular model - it is currently not supported in HA and can only be integrated by writing your own external converter to zigbee2mqtt
Specifications | 24W, 2400lm, 2700-6500K |
Size | 290*50mm |
Type | CCT/RGB+CCT |
Protocol | ZigBee 3.0 |
App | Tuya |
Assistants | Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa |
Price | $26.99 |
Tuya Wifi/Zigbee Smart Ceiling light
This model is still interesting because of its price and claimed features and working through Tuya, which guarantees HA integration but does not guarantee that you will not need to write your own converter. So it is quite a risky purchase, taking into account the time that can be spent on finding information to write a converter. This model is also available in a WiFi version.
Specifications | 24W, - |
Size | 320*40мм |
Type | RGB+CW+WW |
Protocols | ZigBee 3.0\WiFi |
App | Tuya |
Assistants | Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa |
Price | $42.65 |
Zemismart Tuya Zigbee Smart LED Ceiling Light
One of the most interesting, in my opinion, is the lamp because in addition to all that, it has a preliminary stated protection against penetration IP54, which means it is protected from dust and water drops during normal use. Another advantage is that it is supported by Apple Homekit. I also note that this model can be found reviews on the Internet.
Specifications | 24W, 100-240V, 2700-6500K, IP54 |
Size | 320*40мм |
Type | RGBCW |
Protocol | ZigBee 3.0 |
Apps | Tuya/Smart Life/Home Kit(ZMHK-01 Hub) |
Assistants | Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Siri |
Price | $42.65 |
Aqara Smart Ceiling Light L1-350 (ZNXDD01LM)
The flagship and the largest in this segment with the corresponding price, but without lgbt RGB LEDs. The protection class is inferior to the previous lamp, only IP40 (without protection against drops). Almost guaranteed to become in HA without additional manipulations, and there is also support for Apple Homekit.
Specifications | 24W, 220V, 2700-6500K, IP40in |
Size | 350*60мм |
Type | CW+WW |
Protocol | ZigBee 3.0 |
Apps | Mi Home, Aqara Home, Apple Homekit |
Assistants | Siri |
Price | $42.65 |
